Throughout the recession fashionistas have rejoiced to find some of their most coveted dream designers featuring lines for affordable prices at stores such as Macys, H&M, Target and Others. But one designer that I personally was shocked and overjoyed to hear was in the works of a line for H&M was Jimmy Choo! This Saturday, November 14, 2009, select H&M stores will be graced by Jimmy Choo’s fabulous internationally renowned fashion. For a limited time only the H&M Jimmy Choo collection will be available in 200 stores across the globe. While H&M has worked with designers and clothing labels before this is their premier partnership with an accessories brand, and in celebration Jimmy Choo created a partnering collection of women’s and men’s clothing to go with their shoes, bags, and accessories.
“We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far and to be designing a collection appealing to fashion savvy, street smart women, and to be including some great pieces for men, too. Jimmy Choo will bring to H&M a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection- the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night!” said Tamara Mellon, Founder and President of Jimmy Choo, at the H&M press release.
What caught me most off guard that Jimmy Choo of all brands was, excuse me for sounding harsh, stooping to department store level was their impeccable reputation a high-end brand. Launched in 1996 Jimmy Choo instantly rose in the ranks of brands that we mere mortals can only dream about, soon finding it’s home in the realm of the coveted right next to Manolo Blahnik. Jimmy Choo’s are shoes fit for $200.00 perfect pedicures, red-carpets, and runways. While no stores on long island that boast the Jimmy Choo collection multiple outlets in New York City do, the stores on 1328 Broadway, 150 East 86th St, 435 7th Ave, 731 Lexington Ave, and of course at H&M’s flagship store which reopened this past monday at 640 5th Ave.
One thing I love about all of the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection is that they are fashionable and versatile. Almost all of the pieces can be turned from day to night outfits with a slight variation of accessory. One of my favorites selections is the cerulean blue suede dress ($249), loose but not chunky this little number falls just halfway down the thigh, and has a deep V-cut out back exposing the shoulder blades in a sultry manner. Paired with the collections thick noir leather studded belt ($59.95), black faux fur vest ($99), and stunning electric blue strappy stilettos ($129) and you have an outfit which is vogue worthy and looks like something any style savvy star would be wearing out and about in the city that never sleeps. Not to be overlooked the one shoulder leather dress ($249) and in the men’s collection, a tight leather jacket ($299) and vibrant blue cashmere sweater ($99) that I know would make me want to cozy up to whoever would dare to sport it. So friends of fashion mark your calendars for this Saturday, and be one of the first to own one of this recession inspired collections fabulous frocks.
