Well I have been a little MIA throughly enjoying my winter break but I'm back! and here we go! So I've been very into nail-polish lately I've caught the manicure bug. Blacks are traditional for the runway and of course Steel from the Chanel SOHO story collection is one of my absolute favorites. What you see in the bottle isn't exactly what shows up on the your nails. In the bottle Steel looks like a deep grey laced with silver, on nails it's a more midnight matte with the slightest shimmer, blue-black, and I Adore it! But I was more in the mood for something bright so I only painted my two ring fingers Steel and the rest a metallic jewel favorite OPI: Glitzerland. I really loved how it turned out, the darker Steel really was eye catching, and the gold added the extra bit of flirty fun I was going for. How do you feel about Multi-color manicures? Chic? Yay or Nay?

Stumbled across this little post by Glamour.... not sure how I feel. On one hand I am totally excited for something new in the nail world, on the other, leather nails ughk? Either way I'm very curious. This intriging new texture comes by way of Jason Wu's collaboration with CND which will be available in May 2011. The collection consists of mainly classy and time-resistant colors but it's the effect polish "Anna" that's really sensational. The effect polish is going to go for around $50.

So the question is: Next big thing for nails? or just a big flop?

I am BACK!!! Perhaps the Holiday season has inspired me, perhaps the spirit of consumerism has inspired the shopaholic in me.... that or me schedule is finally calming down a bit. After working my butt off all semester it is time for internship applications, and in the meanwhile while I sweat myself to sleep with anxiety I'll post here for some recreational oogling. What better way to start than with Jeffery Campbell's enormously successful LITA bootie.

Ok if you haven't heard of the Lita I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you must have been hitting 508 errors at every blog to mean anything ever but these puppies have been the talk of the town since summer. With the holiday season upon us the amorous fashionistas have turned into feverish obbsessives and these shoes are flying off the shelves EVERYWHERE. I hate to admit it but I want them... BAD. They come in every color; Black, Distressed Black, Brown, Distressed Brown, Grey, Red, Pink, White, Blue, Green, Mustard.... you get the picture? Jeffery is an old friend of mine, I always find myself pining for his shoes, so it's no surprise to me that these puppies are such a sensation. My suggestion find them, preorder them, and sport them.

Me personally my goal is to secure a pair before Thanksgiving break to flaunt infront of my old high school frenemies. Oh these old things?

PETA has been causing quite a bit of a fuss over Lady GaGa's "Meat Bikini" cover for Japanese Vogue. PETA claims "No matter how beautifully it is represented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal,"....puhleaseeee. Get off of your soap box, get a life, and stop ruining high fashion for the rest of us, and for everyone else who is surprised or confused with Gaga's choice of attire clearly I'm going to have to agree with The Guardian on this one. Typical Gaga I'd expect nothing less.

Well the title is self explanatory if you live in the NYC/Long Island area. Since the big mean and SCARY hurricane Earl slipped silently past us this past weekend without much fuss we have been having BEAUTIFUL weather, and although summer is officially over this doesn't mean sundresses are out of vogue just yet. I for one plan to cling to my warm wear for as long as possible I'm not much of a winter person. I've got so much going on this week, I recently started to write for Patch.com which has been keeping me very busy, not to mention taking three intensive journalism classes (my clip file will be quite impressive by the end of this semester), on thursday I'm going to ifb's Evolving Influence Conference (which if you are in the NYC area you should definitely check out), and friday is NYC's FNO!! So excited!!! The shirts came today!

Inspiring Vintage: Levi's Blue Jeans

Vintage is a term that lately has been used in surplus by the fashion community, to a point at which sometimes verges on absurdity. The latest obsession is yesterdays garbage, the discarded unwanted remnants of another time, in short trash has become treasure. This also could not have been timed better with the state of the economy and all, coincidence... ehh maybe not. But I personally have found that history often repeats itself, in the real world and the fashion world. Which is why knowledge of the past can only better ones understanding of the present and soon to be present (aka the future). So Every thursday I'm going to feature a "Vintage" look, item or brand, for my own personal knowledge and to anyone else who stumbles across this hum-drum blog of mind (-bows down to the sparse readers-). And this week.. it's Levi Strauss and Co.

Levi Strauss and Co was founded in 1873, which as the birth year of BLUE JEANS, and since then Levi's have been the iconic Jean which lead the denim revolution. The oldest pair of 501 Levi jeans still in existence is from 1879. Levi loves denim even going so far as making a car which had an interior entirely decked out in... *drumroll* denim, hello 1974 Gremlin. Moving on, for a company that's 150 year's old Levi shows no sign of slowing down. Denim overalls were first produces in the 1870s, and 'modern' jeans came around in the 1920's. The all time question though is what makes jeans so damn versatile? I mean come on... everyone is wearing them, I can not name a single person who does not own a pair of jeans. Perhaps it is color, perhaps it's the comfort, perhaps the price range, perhaps everyone just really does look good in them. In any case it's hard to beat the classic look of white jeans and a t-shirt which we can thank Levi Strauss for marketing so well (Thanks Levs!). Anyway although the cut, fit, quality, and stain of jeans is constantly changing, denim in it's pure form is really inspirational to me. It really strikes a chord in me when someone can wear a simple pair of blue jeans t-shirt combo and look absolutely flawless. (Once again thank you Levs!) So enjoy these Ad's I've dug up... I may do a bit of research and pull together a jean style time line... so cross your fingers.

I ADORE these shoes by Tsumori Chisato for Opening Ceremony, the J013 lace up wedges on multi print cream are whimsical and shocking! I love how the watercolor detail looks like dragon scales and the colorful fray on the back of the shoe really top off it's extravagance. If there is one thing you can expect from Tsumori is an EXPLOSION of bright color. Pair these shoes with any drab neutral colors ie: beige, black, white, grey, and bring your outfit to life. Tsumori is known for her "unconventional" design style, which makes me only love her more, fashion is an artform after all. Tsumori is an Issey Miyake protege and has a very loyal cult following. I took a good number of pictures today, but this one was my favorite by far. This is actually what I am wearing today/ plan to wear out tonight. Asides from being a busy little be at my internship, this summer has been mainly about relaxation. Something I have not been able to do for awhile. I am going to Europe soon however, though not for stylish purposed I'm 'roughing it'. That's right my friends this couture princess will be minimizing my wardrobe and grunging it up for two and a half weeks from July 28th to August 16 though you can be sure I'll bring back tons of fantastic pictures even if I do look hideous and drab in all of them.

Okay so I used to think that Bodychains were A.) Tacky, and B.) Way to expensive but now I'm leaning more towards only have B.) in my way of buying one. As I see more and more fashion idols sporting these twisted metal threads, the more I liken to join their ranks. Body Armor boasts an intense and edgy selection of body chain which I would murder to get my hands on, but believe it or not if you're crafty you can make one of these puppies did as the notorious Rumi did (featured in the first picture). So my goal for this week is to attempt to do just that, wish me luck!

In my early post I mentioned how I loved Gaga's pinstripe ensemble she sports in the start of the Telephone video, well I have officially found a copycat for those of you who enjoy the look as much as I. Let's talk about the two trend in cooperated here, one we have the nautical horizontal stripes originally one of lady Chanel's signature looks navy stripes have been riding the style circuit for decades and now are back in full force. Next we have the shoulder accents, the structured shoulder detail creates a strong silhouette personally I think this looks best with short cropped hair and a person with a slight shoulders, a for a full figure this might not be your first choice in making a style statement. This shirt is available now at Urban Outtfitters for $32.

flavor of the week: saw-edged shoes

Call me crazy but I love the innovative, dangerous edge (no pun intended) of Camilla Skovgarrd's most recent collection of shoes. What's unique about these shoes is their saw-edge soles... I'm not sure if this is actually functional and helps with the movement but aren't they fantastic to look at, not to mention the impeccable scales and fire-lizard orange. This particular one is my absolute favorite but there are several more styles all with saw edges, including some booties and over the knee boots.

Camilla has known to be a choice shoemaker of Halle Berry and European royalty. Her shoes can be found only be found in select boutiques and Saks 5th in the United States, and I dare not look at the price tag on these pretty things.

However there is hope Intermix has a pair of Camilla Skovgarrd's coveted saw-edge noir mules currently on sale for $395, not exactly a steal but not exactly a fortune either. Still I'm tempted, how can you resist shoes that promise a night you'll never forget.

Are you Thelma or Louise?

Honestly I couldn't help myself but picture Thelma and Louise while watching Lady Gaga and Beyonce's new video for Telephone. After a long anticipated wait I was disappointed with A.) the fact that it was less of a video and more of a short drawn out awkward film, and B.) there was a supreme lack of dance scenes, which drew me in originally with Bad Romance. Not to say the video is a total flop... the fashion...TO DIE FOR! During bad romance, the use of McQueen's signature claw-like shoes left me drooling, and Gaga brought it once more in Telephone.

Now you can imagine how excited I was when Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, posted still pictures of the video on his blog. Favorite outfits were her pinstripe, shoulder embellished by JEAN CHARLES DE CASTELB, and the vintage ensemble THIERRY MUGLER created for the scene in which "Honey Bee" springs Gaga from the clink. On a side note this may be the most product placement infused music video since the old superman movies. Wonderbread, Polaroid, etc etc etc... oi vei.

Today the fashion industry suffered a tragic loss, at 40 years old Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning in his London apartment. McQueen committed suicide, though his family has yet to make a statement. McQueen was a legend and his works will be forever missed from the runway

Renowned fashion designer Donna Karan shocked followers this weekend, when upon returning to her Alma Mater, Parsons: The New School for Design, she had nothing but negative things to say about the industry.

“When I launched my company, the shows were in April and May, now they’re in February. So my question to this industry, and I say it to myself for my own company: Why am I showing clothes in February?” said Karan.

Having been in the business since she left Parsons to work at Anne Klein, which eventually led to Karan launching her own line in 1985 self titled Donna Karan New York, Karan is considered a well seasoned veteran to the fashion industry. During a recent and frank interview Karan expressed her opinion on the state of industry.

“We need fashion shows, but that’s industry, it’s not for the general public. All the communication has to stop. It doesn’t go out on the wire, it doesn’t go out on the Internet, it doesn’t get out for the manufacturers to copy the designs. I mean we’re killing our own industry… There’s too much information going out there. We have to learn the word restriction,” said Karan.

As it would appear many agree with Karan one thing at least, the fashion industry is suffering. Late in 2009 the LA Times posted an article “The Fashion industry’s old business model is out of style”. What they do agree on is the Internet is changing things, for better or worse however they two are divided. Karen makes a point of saying that “all the communication has to stop”; she feels that the continuous updates, posted on online magazines and blogs are slowly strangling the industry. However LA times Fashion Critic Booth Moore disagrees.

“Not only does the internet allow the convenience of shopping anytime, anywhere, it’s also a platform for a new generation of arbiters who can dictate trends from their living room,” said Moore.

Which Karan feels isn’t exactly a good thing,

“"I think there's been a shift in a fashion designer's approach to fashion. The old system is 'Let's create a dress, let's put it down the runway, that's the end of it.' I think it's far more complicated right now . . .I think we're on the cusp of something major. I really think conscious consumerism is where it's at . . . There are so many more messages out there than just, 'This is the hot new item of the season.' There has to be consciousness within the clothing . . . and something that people want to wear, something that makes them feel good, feel good on the outside and feel good on the inside."

Only time can tell what will become of the fashion empire, perhaps this months shows will shed some light on the future of fashion, and design.

Gaga for the Grammies

I weep for our youth, on a style note I applaud Lady Gaga and her two Armani Privé outfits. Firstly the elaborate out of this world red carpet. Don't worry folks she comes in peace.

Next up Gaga when grim with her version of a fashionable zombie. Which she wore during her performance with Elton John.

The Fashion Idol did not go home empty handed however, she walked out with a grammy...or two? One for Best Recording Dance in her Poker Face video and another for Best Electric Dance Album. You Go Gaga.

Zac Posen for Target...

Considering how excited I was for this line I was quite disappointed with the result. The whole look book is now viewable for anyones pleasure and I must say instead of Zac usual fashion foreword, Posen's for Target line in my opinion is a fashion faux pas. While looking at the pieces I'm feeling a 90's vibe, awkward prints, and layers the majority of which is cheap looking fabric. In short the line is more Target than Posen which was highly upsetting, on the right I featured the lowest point of the collection in my personal opinion something my mother would have worn back in 1990. Fluroesnt socks in heels, make the models legs look stocky and unfeminine. The high waisted denim Bermuda shorts are neither a good cut or quality. The orgami belt is neither a good tranisiton piece or attractive by any means and looks poorly constructed, as for the 'saftey-pin print' short sleeved tee looks more like a Hawaiian shirt only the most oblivious tourist would wear. So in short I.Am.Not.Pleased. But there was one glimmering ray of hope for the collection, an adapted verison of Posen's famous scarlet gown which was featured on The Beautiful Life. I might actually try this on and it goes for a mere $79.00 Go to Fashionista to see the full line!

Golden Globes Fashion

While I like to spend most of my blogging focused on what I like to call 'financially friendly fashion' it doesn't hurt every now and then to glimpse into the fabulous lives of the A-list elite bite back a jealous sigh, or sometimes a laugh. The Golden Globes provides a (pun completely intended) golden opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat, also know as the red carpet. This years Golden Globes had its fair share of highs and lows in the fashion department, the best dressed of the evening would have had to been Kate Hudson. Hudson's Marchesa gown held of a bride with it's ivory color and strapless cut with plumes along the neckline, yet there was an undeniable edge to the structure of the dress which was fitted at top with a flared skirt. Everything about her ensemble oozed elegance and fineness, down to carefully selected accessories which included Stephen Russell tassel earrings, and a Stephen Russell geometric diamond bracelet. La pièce de résistance however was Hudson's footwear; triple platform pumps, Casadei's signature shoe. Hudson took quite a risk with this little number but boy did it pay off, the outfit made quite a statement and ushered in the platform shoe and ruffle trends forecasted for 2010.

Coming up second on my list is Drew Barrymore, who strutted her stuff in an Atelier Versace nude gown. Barry

more went on to win an award for her role in Grey Gardens. What drew me to the dress at first glance were the glass fringe bead embellishments placed on her hip and shoulder which highlight the swarvoski crystals which are all over the dress. It's asymmetrical cut is de mode right now, and hides the bustier underneath layers of chiffon. With Lorriane Schwartz diamond stud earrings, a Roger Viver and Jimmy Choo sandels to top off the gown Barrymore took great risks, and I do not care what anyone says, this dress was not only a fashionable statement but a moving work of art, and I applaud Barrymore for pulling it off.

Another outfit of note was the stylish Christian Dior gown the lovely Marion Cotillard sported that evening. Staying true to the Christian Dior label, seeing as she is the new face of the Lady Dior bag. Nominated for best actress, Cotillard's bottle green satin gown caught my attention instantly, sexy and sleek it's asymmetrical cut, paired with a corset fit about the waist and flowing train was breathtaking. The key feature of this dress is the carefully cut slit running from Cotillard's waist to the floor revealing a black lace slip. Not only does this dress exude classic red carpet class but the slit and lingerie touch defiantly up the anti and make it a new decade dress. Finally the accessories opting a hair piece for earring Cotillards bun had its own bling with 12-carat platinum and diamond Chopard hair clips, not to mention the latinum and trillion cut diamond Chopard bracelets and Roger Vivier satin clutch. Finally last but not least noir gladiator Jimmy Choo sandals.

I like many others have fallen into the "Cupcake Craze". On almost every block in NYC little Cupcake Cafes have been popping up like delicious dainty weeds. While this fad has quite took to the same extent in Boston there are still some high quality Cupcake Cafe's that shouldn't be over looked if you live in or frequent the city. Sweet is one of them, with two easy to find/reach locations (one in Harvard Square the other on Mass ave.) Sweet has become a local favorite. Each morning the cupcakes are baked fresh. The Sweet bakers highly believe in using 'fine' ingredients such as Callebaut chocolate, Madagascar bourbon vanilla, and Bensdorp cocoa. Awarded Boston's Best Cupcakes of 2009 by the Improper Bostonian I had to give this place a go. Both My beau and I selected three cupcakes for me, a Dark chocolate, a Blueberry Buttermilk Pancake, and a Banana Cream. They were all incredibly delicious to eat and lovely to look at however we did purchase them at the end of the day so they were a bit dry, my advice would be to get them fresh sometime around 11:00 am! Something also to indulge in are their frosting shots, and for those with four legged friends a "Pupcup" can be purchased. My boyfriend's dog Max had a field day with that one!

So since I'll be moving into my new house this upcoming month I've been rather hypersensitive about anything and everything apartment related. This obsession has led me to find a delightful surprise, the daring designer Miss Vivienne Westwood has partnered with Cole & Son's to make a superb line of wallpaper. If you really want to up the anti in your mansion, apartment, shack or home (hah. MASH!) the rolls start at $87 and go to $298. The designs are taken from Westwood's past Ready-to-Wear designs. Example my personal favorite and as it is featured here Squiggle which was sniped from Westwood's 1981 autumn collection. Love it.

If you're looking for good quality, good prices, and timeless pieces then Bobby's is where you want to be. Also, astoundingly they take both cash and credit. Run by Bobby Garnett who opened the shop in 2000, though he's been in the Vintage business for an astounding 30 years! So at long last my exams have come to an end, I have moved out of my dorm and into the new house and I've started to settle in back home. Finally I can allow myself sometime to update! Today I took a trip into Boston, so Alex and I could have ourselves a Merry-little pre Christmas. Earlier today we exchanged gifts, I got him a Skeleton Face Kenneth Cole watch to replace his old watch, and a Nautica cashmere scarf. He got me two new charms for my Pandora bracelet (I'm so hooked on this fad), which he hid inside a twilight book by cutting a Pandora gift-box shape hole in the pages with a kitchen knife. He also got me a book with ALL of Audrey Hepburn's pictures EVER taken, a leather bound copy of Sherlock Holmes and as a joke an F My Life book. Then we went on to do alittle thrifty vintage shopping and ended up as Bobby from Boston honestly this vintage shop is one of my new favorite stores but more about that later. I bought an exquisite leather waist belt with engraved feather detail and gold clasp, for a mere $25. Then we met up with his father who graciously paid for our dinner at the North End. Not a bad kick off to the Christmas season if I do say so myself... but enough about me.. updates of the fashionable sort to come soon!

When I was a wee lass in high school our local mall and movie theater were conjoined and so when the friends gathered before a movie to waste time it was habit that the guys would want to go mosey around Best Buy. All other suggestions were ignored generally or answered with "Well we're going there... but you and the girls can..." So while a Best Buy gift card may be a choice pick for that almost-sorta-boyfriend, younger brother, or video game lover in your life, I would not advise you to give it to an inspiring fashionista. Top Five Fashion Movies

1.) The Devil Wears Prada one of the ultimate and most successful fashion themed movies of the time. Based on the best selling novel by Lauren Weisberger, The Devil Wears Prada gives tells a tale of a young woman who unwillingly stumbles into the hectic worlds of high fashion and publishing. Starring Anne Hathaway as Andrea "Andy" Sachs, and Meryl Streep as the frigid and fabulous Miranda Priestly, this is indeed one of my favorites. It also helps that all the proceedings and characters are based on Vogue the most infamous mirror is of Anna Wintour herself as Miranda Priestly and while Wintour says she can't see herself in Priestly, those who has worked under and around her beg to differ. Find it for $10 at Best Buy!

2.)Breakfast at Tiffany's often claimed one of the most fashionably inspirational movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's is the ultimate fashion lovers staple and classic. Set in New York City in the early 60's the ever picture perfect Audrey Hepburn stars as Holly Golightly a charming socialite with a number of peculiar habits and a love for living her life (whatever that means to her at the moment). She meets aspiring writer, Paul (George Peppered) who she playfully remains Fred and thus he remains known as for the remainder of the film. I adore this movie, did you know the original little black dress can be accredited to this very film! Marvelous simply marvelous darling! Definitely a movie you'll be able to watch again and again.

3.) Almost Famous Okay this is my favorite movie. Period, end of story, drop the curtain, cue the

applause. This is the movie that inspired me to go into Journalism. It tells the story of writer and director Cameron Crowe's experiences as a teenage rock journalist, can you imagine being a regular contributer for the Rolling Stone while you were still in high school?! The main character William Miller is played by a young Patrick Fugit, loves rock and roll and begins writing reviews for an underground magazine. Which soon catches the attention of Lester Bands (Philip Seymour Hoffman), editor of the rock renegade magazine Creem, he takes William under his wing and gives him a professional assignment cover a Black Sabbath concert. While unable to get to Black Sabbath instead William chats it up with Stillwater, and the piece he writes catches the attention of Rolling Stone. My favorite part of the movie by far are the Band-aids self proclaimed muses (erm...groupies) of the bands, who are led by the inspirational and glamorous Penny Lane played by a young Kate Hudson. This movie placed Kate Hudson as an idol, and her effortlessly stylish rockstar wardrobe in the movie left my mouth watering.

4.)Sex and the City The Movie the ladies of beloved show 'sex in the city' made there silver screen debut last year which as a sequel in the works for next year. And although the plot is so-so in my opinion it's a classic 'girls night' flick which is riddled with breathtaking fashion. No they do not fail to impress in that particular category, praise the fashion gods. The movie is basically a constant stream of fashion designers, inspirations and NYC charm. The kicker which worked for the show and the movie the four main characters offer such a varied range of style that it's hard to not find one to suit your tastes.

5.)Last but not least Marie Antoinette whenever I want to sketch up something pretty and need just an extra little bit of inspiration this flick always does the trick! Written and Directed by Sofia Coppola, it puts a whole new spin on the life and times of one of Europe's most infamous monarchs. Kirsten Dunst is beautiful as the Austrian born Marie Antoinette. But it's the fashion that really steals the show in this piece, couture at its finest this movie is positively riddled with pastel hued: ribbons, ruffles, wigs, fans, masks, and believe it or not food! Have you ever stopped and admired one of the Juicy Couture campaign ads, and wondered 'what in blazes is going on in this picture!' well Coppola's work looks as if it could be the back story to one of those ads. Everything in this movie is simply dazzling and even watching it on mute could prove inspirational.

We all have come face to face with an UCGC atleast once in our lives. Yes those rectangular bits of colorful plastic leaking intended holiday joy. UCGC's are meant well, and we try to keep in mind it's the thought that counts but we're left with the weight in our wallet of "just what the hell am I going to buy from *insertstorehere*" feeling. Well fear no more! I have been handed many a UCGC (Unwanted Christmas Gift Certificate if you still haven't caught on) and am now here to provide you with the essential information of how to use them to the best of your ability. Today I'll start with a simple one, now I have no problem with Hollister, or Abercrombie for that matter but let's face it... I'm 19 If I walk around with the words HCO PARTY IN THE USA tattooed across my chest judgement will ensure. Aside from that I do not enjoy being someone's personal walking advertisement, yes Hollister was cool... when I was a freshman in highschool, and if I had been handed a gift card for them a mere week ago it would have been met with a raised eyebrow and a "you've got to be kidding me." My Christmas Wishlist

I'm going to go ahead and be a little selfish, and publish my -what I would kill for list- aka 'Christmas List'. The chance of me getting everything on this list is about as likely as Anna Wintour getting caught within a 100 yard radius of TJ Max, but a girl can dream *sigh*. Anywho enjoy! xoxo

1.) An Old School Polaroid One-Step Camera

I have always wanted one of these there is something I really love about vintage camera's and the photos they produce. I already have a fantastic professional Nixon D60 and some quick shot bar camera, I would love to add an old granny one step camera to my collection. Mind you the camera is not the expensive part it's the film which runs at around $40 for 10 photos. Yah... the camera goes at around $23-$80 on ebay and amazon.

2.) Leather World Charm Necklace

I adore the delicate gold pieces combination with the multiple leather strands. Reminds me of something an Aztec queen might have worn. Very pricey it's $350 and by Tory Burch, but I can easily see myself being able to dress this up or down for a day or night look. Obviously a statement piece it's odd I've always been a white gold or silver girl but lately I've been lusting for delicate and feminine gold pieces over silver.

3.) Pepper

Wedges are big this season, and I want some badski!...I mean bad I fell in love with Need Supply via What I Wore one of my favorite style blogs. When I spotted these soft leather puppies I knew it was love at first site (haha a blog pun!) designed by Jeffery Campbell, with a 3.5 covered heel I'm in wedge bootie heaven! and $145 is pretty reasonable for good leather in my opinion.

4.)Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau de Parfum

My perfume of choice! (well currently I've been a bit of a perfume floozy over the years but I think I've found my match. Called one of the most "enduring fashionable perfumes" It's a a mix of fruity, floral, and woody scents but never one more than the other. It's ingredients include: wild strawberries, blackberries, black currents, bilberries, Bulgarian rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, peony, rosewood, almond wood, sandalwood, and cedar (whoo allot goes into one tiny bottle of perfume). I'm running low and could certainly use a new bottle!

5.)Antoinette Fainting Sofa- Verdgris

Love this I can see it in my new apartment/bedroom that I'm moving into this coming January. A spot opened up in my Sorority's house and I really can't wait to customize it. I love decorating, I almost considered interior decorating once upon a time.. actually not really my mother just told my I should always do it. Anyway I ADORE this, something about the antique-french look about it and the color, everything in my room is red, black and white I feel this olive green would really pull it together! My mother is not so sure... it is very pricey my most expensive desire at $575 (yes almost $600) from believe it or not Urban Outfitters. It looks as if I get to choose between a few gifts on just this couch. Still it is a fine piece of furniture..... hm

So today is me and my Boyfriend's 2 month anniversary. Which may not seem like much at all but we've been dating for a long time really now give or take a year and events. Point is we've been through allot together so each month with him his precious to me. Anyway for this evening it conviently fell on the Rockerfeller Center Tree Lighting! Something I've always wanted to see, it looked like it was going to be a lovely evening and then it started raining... haha but we didn't let that ruin a fantastic night in the city. As for my outfit, I dressed warm with an ivory cashmere turtle neck sweater, and instead of tights I went with my denim leggings from people which I'm obsessed with. I should have worn rainboots but these riding boots I picked up from Nordstrom's this summer never fail me. I went christmasy with touches of gold in my sequin scarf and Anthropology earrings. The finising touches of my outfit were my signature scarlet pea coat from tulle, and my Jennifer Ouellette Hat a gift from my Mother (and Barney's C; ). All and all I was very pleased with this outfit very comfortable and fashionable!

Gap Steps it Up with Stella

Okay so I'll be honest I've never been a big fan of the Gap, I generally find it's pieces too plain, too pricey for being too plain, and give or take a season behind what I want. I hate to sound harsh but when it comes to the Gap last time someone got me a gift certificate from said Gap which was on my graduation from high school it took me 2.5 years to rid clutch of that useless piece of plastic tag. Mind you on average a gift certificate has a life of 1-3 days after it is received (at least for me I'm not a gift certificate hoarder like my boyfriend). But wait!! There are always the exceptions, when I finally went to spent my gift card I found myself green with envy as Gap had partnered with Stella McCartney, my jealousy being spurred because it was for a kids and not an adults collection. But at last my prayers were answered and Gtella (Gap/Stella) created something a bit more my size. In honor of World Aids Day (today), Ms McCartney has designed a limited edition v-neck t-shirt that is available in both adult and kid sizes. Half of the profits go to the Global Fund to aid in eliminating AIDS (a horrible pun I know) in Africa. But I'm not going to lie I'd get the tee even if didn't. The v-neck has a series of scarlet trompe l'oeil chains backed on the ivory cotton tee, I find this adorable and witty. Let's not forget that it is from the Gap meaning (though I admit begrudgingly) it's super comfy. The shit costs $28 and is available for a limited time only so go go go!

Obsessed! Lime Crime Makeup

I don't consider myself a very dramatic person, opting for classic and timeless pieces, over the more outrageous ones with expiration dates, but I am completely OBSESSED with the Lime Crime makeup line. Lime Crime boasts it's products to be "So Bright, It's Illegal!" Lime Crime has a massive following which originated from its creator Doe Deere. A New York City veteran Deere breathed life into her makeup line in 2008 simply because no makeup out on the market was bright enough for her 'unique' tastes. Deere is a model, makeup guru, and entrepreneur. She was born in Russia and came to the United States at age 17. Lime Crime is notorious for pumping out retina searing colors. Deere constantly is pushing the envelope and taking no prisoners with her high fashion a la mode attitude, going beyond the just "What's In and Out" mentality. My personal favorite colors are No She Didn't an ice queen opaque aqua lipstick, D'Lilac a celestial thick lavender that would look out of this world and to die for on someone with a very pale skin tone. Then there are the much more wearable Retrofuturist think pure scarlet, Great Pink Planet, and Centrifuchsia a delightfully rick fuchsia "amplified to a cosmic degree". Also not to be over looked the juicy orange My Beautiful Rocker and Styletto a luscious deep noir that screams Lady Gaga. Deere's lipsticks retail at around $16 or you can purchase them all for $140 saving $20.

Zac Posen Lowers the Bar

It's happened again, yet another high end designer has aligned themselves with Target in hopes of scoring a larger consumer base. Zac Posen an uprising designer, who's own collection houses pieces ranging from $900- $15,000 recently revealed that he would be releasing a collection called Z Spoke at Saks in spring '10', took another step down the proverbial ladder and announced that he would be doing a 'for' Target line. Because the for Target lines generally are kept under wraps until the month before not much is known, what I do know is that the line will be available in stores April 25 through May 30. With her lines release Eugenia will be the first designer ever to have a headware collaboration with Target, along with Kim's line, Cynthia Vincent is creating a footwear for target line set to hit the selves around the same time as Kim's. Details are still in the works but rumor has it both designers pieces will be released sometime around April 18, 2010. Oh and to give you an idea normally Eugenia Kim hats go for around $300 a pop. So mark your calenders!

Hofstra Students got their first taste of the runway on Saturday, November 21, all in hopes to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This is Hofstra’s third annual Destination Runway charity fashion show, it has become a campus sensation overnight bringing students together from a variety of organizations on and off campus, bringing a little bit of big city fashion to our Long Island University. Destination Runway was founded by Hofstra ‘09’ Alumni Peter DiSilvio in 2006.

“At the time the Student Government Association (SGA) just wanted to bring the campus closer together, being so near to New York I’d say Hofstra is a pretty fashion savvy campus. Destination Runway Hofstra allows students of all social groups to combine their talents to make something fantastic,” said DiSilvio who made it back this year to see the show.

Each year since DiSlivio founded Destination Runway Hofstra, a different charity and theme has been selected. This year the WWF and Urban Jungle theme was chosen, why?

“Because it’s a jungle out there!” said Victoria Vullo, a junior at Hofstra University and one of the evening’s delightful hosts.

The WWF has for over 45 years, made an effort to be nature’s voice and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Currently the WWF is the world’s leading conversation organization, active in over 100 countries it is supported by more than 5 million members globally. WWF works every day to find a common ground between nature and human beings, hoping to find a solution that meets both parties needs.

“We hope to purchase two lions, and name them Kate and Willy!” said Brian Marquis, SGA member and Vullo’s charismatic co-host.

Sticking true to its theme the runway was decked out in an elaborate set designed to duplicate the city skyline, complete with a faux subway entrance, and endless strands of ivy accents (taking jungle to a literal sense).

Every detail was taken care of, from water bottles (donated by Lackmen) on every seat, to an adrenaline pumping combination of lights and club music.

The show’s first segment had 20 of the student models strut their stuff in casual wear. Included among some of the starting ensembles were, various animal printed dresses, shirts, and skirts for girls. While boys in blazers, vintage T-shirts, acid washed jeans, and leather jackets flooded the stage. The next run consisted purely of outfits from David’s Bridal, this time girls flaunted cocktail to floor length dresses, and boys boasted neatly pressed tuxedos, all to the tremulous roar of the audience.

In-between the runs the audience was entertained by two of Hofstra’s finest performance groups, Dance works and Armani: Hofstra’s Hip-Hop dance group. It was easy to loose oneself in the atmosphere which seemed to be somewhere between a high fashion show, and a nightclub, either way Hofstra USA was unrecognizable, but none of this glamour came with our blood and sweat.

“It took a great deal of time and effort to pull this off, we had to work closely together as a team.” said Lukas Miedreich, Student Services Chairman Hofstra Student and Contracts Manager of the event.

By We Miedreich is inferring to the five executive board members assigned to the Destination Runway Project including himself, Dan Lebo, Samantha Erickson, Steve Aikens, and Victoria Vullo, in addition, to their various sponsors, student government volunteers, community volunteers and all 48 of their student models.

“The final product was amazing, but we didn’t end up here without doing a more than fair share bit of work.” said Miedreich.

Preparations for Destination Runway began in spring of ‘09’, when the executive board was decided along with the theme. Then began the process of finding sponsors, including people willing to donate clothing, then set design and recruiting the models. All of the models were Hofstra Students who auditioned for a chance to walk the runway on September 16 and 17; from there they practiced every Thursday until the event.

“By far the most difficult part was getting clothing, in order to get donations you have to go through corporate which can be generally quite a mess, we didn’t get our first donations until the first week of November.” said Miedreich.

Clothing was donated by Hazard Line, Accessories, Chickey Designs, David’s Bridal, and Jessi Higens

“The evening was a totally success and I could not be happier!” said Miedreich

Prior to the nigh to the event the SGA sold a total of $1400.00 worth of tickets and that night an estimated $1000.00 more was made.

A Nightmare Before Thanksgiving

Yesterday it was so beautiful out that Alex and I decided to hit up the MoMa, he's never been before so it was a bit of a treat to see just how excited he got. If you haven't noticed I love exposing people to new things and sharing things I love in hopes that they will fall in love with them as well. I've always been a big museum goer thanks to my mother (a elementary school science teacher), but Boston has nothing on New York's selection, I swear there is a muse am or organization or memorial for everything and anything here. Not that I'm complaining it means that there is always something new to explore. Anyway the reason we chose the MoMa was not simply to strip Alex of his MoMa virginity but to see the opening of the new Tim Burton exhibit. I think it's fantastic that an artist such as Burton is being acknowledged by the MoMa for his work, when not to long ago people would have scoffed at his films, sketches, and sculptures being called art. Tim burton draws his inspiration from pop culture, and has roped himself the title as an international sensation. The exhibition boasted all of his personal collection which included, the original notes for his films and cartoons, never-before-seen drawings, photographs, paintings, sculptures, storyboards, puppets, films, costumes, well you name it Tim Burton the MoMa has it. Burton has been the creative genius behind 14 films: Vincent (1982), Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985), Beetlejuice(1988), Batman (1989), Edward Scisorhands(1990), Batman Returns(1992), The Nightmare Before Christmas(1993), Ed Wood(1994), Mars Attacks!(1996), Sleepy Hollow(1999), Big Fish(2003), Corpse Bride(2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(2005), and Sweeney Todd (2007), this is about to become 15 with Burton's next film Alice in Wonderland (scheduled to open in 2010). The Exhibit is set to run from November 22 to April 26. Of course all of the Art was dark and a bit morbid, but in a chic way that it seems only Burton could pull off. Sadly I was unable to take photographs (they weren't allowed and my camera died), but here are a few teasers from the Latimes article about the exhibit.

I personally have always admired minority models, in the eastern-European dominated fashion world, and today I was browsing NY Mag and caught sight of the tragic news of 20-year-old Daul Kim's death. She was found in dead in Paris this morning, and her agents at Next confirmed her death. As of yet the cause of death is unknown, but sources say that it was yet model suicide. It really pains me that this has become so common place, agencies really need to spend more time and money taking care of their girls. I'd have to say this is one fad I am most certainly not a fan of.

I mentioned previously that I'm a pretty big fan of the website Mod Cloth, today I was just browsing some of their selections and came across this leather gem titled "Science Fiction Booties" with the chiller months rolling around it's time to look for some warm but fashionable alternatives to our summer footwear. This booty is a bit pricey at $147.99 but kudos to the buyer this booty rocks the booties-cutout-fad to a T. It's rich caramel and crimson tones are brand less and aesthetically pleasing complimenting colors. The sole is brightly printed and the interior a soft pink velvet. Halloween a Synopsis

Halloween this year was pretty fantastic, I kicked it off friday with some friends, and my boyfriend who is dressed as a Jamacian bob-sledder (and even went so far as to make a bobsled with his roommates out of miller light boxes). I went with a simple classic, french maid and spruced it up with black lace tights from Jcrew, paired with Prada noir pumps, and some Mikimoto pearls, classy little sloot I am. Then we carried on all night at the local college haunt of a bar. Halloween night however was far more fabulous! Alex (my beau) and I treked to the city, he repeated costumes but this time I was in a full out 'Spektra' from the movie Watchmen, favorite part the over the heel boots Hammerstein ballroom for the 101.9fm Weezer/Matt and Kim concert which was one of the most electric concerts I have ever been to. Mind you the Hammerstein Ballroom is HUGE and was brimming over with ghosts and gouls, dancing hippos, wild things, you name it. It was quite an experience, Matt and Kim came on stage dressed in a favorite duo of mine Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgewick, and Weezer crawled into the spotlight in full out giant bug costumes as they jammed to their song Hashpipe, not to mention there were guest cameos by Leighton Meester and one of the Naked Brothers Band boys. Certianlly a Halloween for the books! I didn't get many good pictures of the show so I'll dig some up online later. Exoh!

Let's talk Emmy's shall we, since I don't feel like getting into Fashion Week at the moment. I'm actually a big TV person, for one simple reason fashion, TV is a great reflection of what's 'in' and how to wear what. Forget shiny slick watery looking shades of nailpolish, this fall it's all about the Matte. and Chanel has come out with two adorable colors that I'm completely obsessed with, Jade and Jade Rose. Although I'm leaning more to the pure Jade, it's funky and fun and since I've been wearing nothing but Midnights for parties, and Fruity shades of coral for the daytime/summer, these are cool contrasts for the fall. Fashions Night Out

Ohh I nearly forgot to mention, tonight is Fashions Night Out! Basically they invite all the fashion retailers from every borough of NYC, and encourage them to keep their doors open late on September 10 and to come up with creative customer experiences. Currently over 700 retailers and designers have confirmed their participation. The times mainly are between 6 pm and 11pm and it's an open invite. If you're in the area you'd be crazy not take advantage of this event. Or atleast purchase the super cute Fashion Night Out T-Shirt. There's also a concert for showing how you rock your fashion night out tee where you could win tickets to a runway show during NYC's Fashion Week. Also 40% of retail proceeds of the t-shirt and donated to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. and the shirt is a mere 30$.

The City Lights Shine Bright

Oh my goodness. So let's just say the Trump Fashion Week Launch Party was for lack of a better words Fierce and Fantastic. Never have I seen so many beautiful people crammed into one (albeit long) room. It was held at the Gates Lounge, and started around 9:00pm, Big and I showed up feeling a bit short and misplaced but the open bar and debonair atmosphere cleared those hesitant thoughts away instantly. We mainly got to hangout with her model friends, two who I'm completely obsessed with Anais and Ashley, we sipped white wine, and mowed on macaroni balls and mushroom pizza, or rather I didn't models are well... models. Surprisingly the Donald made an appearence and Big almost died of excitement. We met some rather sketchy business men, and one trappish bartender named Nate. Even the owner of the club Dane Kane made showed up and gave Big and I an indepth tour of The Gates. Which was decorated with original pieces from Fitsgerald's Gatsby's favorite New York Hotel. I even got a bit of a mac on with one of the male models Paul who is gorgeous and 23. It was a night to remember and a night that my feet will remember. Yowch. Ohh and Trump thought I was 'with the agency' aka model? Deff an Ego boost. Miss Universe was there as well, ah so fabulous I think we'll go back to the Gate's soon.

Atleast that's what the tattoo on my right side tells me. It's a quote ripped straight from the lips of Oscar Wilde, one of my favored victorian playwrights, and I like to think that I follow it on a daily basis. My name is Courtney Walsh I'm 19 years old and currently attending Hofstra University, in Hempstead NY. I like to pretend that it counts as New York, New York, but the 30 minute LIRR train ride loves to remind me that is isn't so. Still it's only a stones through away from my favorite city, and (fingers crossed) future home. Anyway I've been meaning to start up a fashion blog, I tried earlier last year but got caught up in freshman year and it faded into cyberspace. I'll make a point of sticking to this one I promise, anyway I'm running on minimum sleep at the moment due to my RSR shift at 4:00am. For those of you that aren't aware an RSR shift involves sitting in a glass box and swiping people in when they misplace their college ID or have guests, or are just plain lazy and don't want to dig their card out of their pockets/purse. Anyway the 4:00am-8:00am shift pays the best and has little to no people coming through, meaning little to no work. (Because no sane/normal college student is up and about beetween 4:00am and 8:00am by choice, normally the bars lingerers wander in around 3:00am, and I personally feel that nothing good can happen to someone out and about at 2:00am and there after).

I've been working out quite a lot, every day sometimes twice a day, so I decided not to nap for an hour and to run instead. Then I have Class Journalism: Media Ethics, followed by Anthropology: Archaeology of the Living and Material World, followed by sketching the banner for my sororities carwash in the student center, then writing for Newsline 2:30-6:00pm anddd then my first Student Government meeting at 6:00 and then me and my Big Sis (sorority Big Sis that is I'll just call her Big here) are going to NYC for a FASHION WEEK PARTY! ( I could die of excitement) except I have nothing to wear since I lost my ATM card and it has yet to be mailed to me, I think I'm just going to wear a black Seven for All Mankind jumper with booties and long necklaces, ugh figures I'm living my dream in an already worn outfit, I pictured my first fashion week party outfit a tad more glamourous perhaps something by Alexander Wu? or Marchesa? Maybe even Chole. Oh well beggars can't be choosers hopefully I can be allowed to snap some good pictures, I'll look like a complete tourist but at this point since I'm already going to stick out like a sore thumb why stop, might as well play the part and enjoy myself.
